What is physical fitness?
There is no very specific definition of physical fitness. According to the Microsoft Encarta Reference Library 2004 physical fitness can be defined:
"the ability of the human body to function with vigor and alertness, without undue fatigue, and with ample energy to engage in leisure activities, and to meet physical stresses."
Very simply it can be said that, if you are physically fit then you will be able to do your physical activities with less effort, more comfort and more efficiently then a physically unfit person. So, does physical fitness means hard belly muscles, arm and legs full of muscles? Of course not. It means physical endurance, strength, stamina and flexibility. You can be in a very good shape but during physical works if you feel uncomfortable always and get out of stamina then you should not think yourself as a physically fit person.

Physical fitness is something that everyone wants but doesn't know how to achieve it. You cannot be physically fit overnight. You will need a healthy diet, physical exercises that best suits you and keeping a healthy weight. A good combination of all these will help you to achieve physical fitness.In fact, you can achieve your physical fitness by following the steps below:

Asses your fitness level
First asses your level of fitness. You can asses your muscle strength by lifting weights or by giving push ups, you can observe your stamina while doing some physical activities. Be honest with yourself. Compare your strength and fitness with a person who has similar height and weight like you. If you are a 5 feet 8 inches person you will be definitely mislead by comparing your strength and fitness with a person whose height is 6 feet 5 inches. Does it make any sense? I hope it does.

Keep a healthy weight
Are you overweight? You can figure that out very easily. Calculate your BMI( Body Mass Index ) and see if your BMI value is in a healthy range. If it is not then you should loose your weight in a healthy manner.

Have Healthy Diet
Healthy diet is very essential if you really want a fit body. If you just eat junk foods, unhealthy but very tasty foods your dream of being physically fit will never come true.

Do exercise
If you really want to be a physically fit person you should include exercise in your everyday routine. Make it a must thing to do like eating your meals. You can do exercise in your homes with some exercise equipments. Some popular and available exercise equipments are:
- Treadmills
- Elliptical Trainers
- Stationary bikes
- Dumbbells
- Barbells
If you can afford you should definitely look for them. See the Exercise and Fitness Equipments section to know what kind of equipments you can have for doing exercise at home. Alternately, you can do exercises at outdoors. Most common outdoor exercise includes the following:

To be physically fit you must have sufficient sleep. Besides this you also have to give your body a good rest after completing physically challenging work. This will ensure re vitalization and regrouping of your body muscles in a healthy manner.
